Who Are We?
Who are we?
Literature Noir started out as a book club for me, Jessica Bethel. I’m on a mission to educate myself on my blackness and dig deeper into literacy and wellness that doesn’t ignore me and people like me. Literature Noir has evolved into a safe space where we connect with marginalized voices and uplift them. We connect with authors of color and their works. We discuss black experiences and give a voice to those ignored. The only way to break free from our oppressive systems is through reading, learning, and building new spaces that account for people of color from the beginning.
I am Jessica Bethel: bookworm, photographer, a certified yoga teacher, travel lover, and wellness advocate. Literature Noir became my passion project in 2017 as I finished up my undergraduate career in art at Florida International University. Join me on this path to building a better future for people of color, primarily for Black women and men. You can learn more about me by following my personal photography Instagram and website. Don’t forget to also subscribe to the newsletter, follow Literature Noir on Instagram, and like us on Facebook.
